Hi everyone - I'm trying to put together a review circle for published indie authors (e.g., your work must be available on Amazon/Lulu/Smashwords etc).

Basically, I run small review circles (non reciprocal, so they don't break site rules) for indie and small press authors after reviews.

I'm especially interested in novellas, poetry, children and short fiction under 30k words.

If any of you would be interested, please PM me or post here.

Ratty rat rats

2 min read

Hi everyone. I'm working on a children's book (for charity) featuring rats. I'm working on the front cover and I'd love some input. I've attached a rough-ish concept pic which will form the basis of the front cover. Anyone have any pointers?

This is where I'm at so far:

I want to keep the images as simple and bold as possible. May or may not add eyes and whiskers.

I'd also like to know if there are any legitimate pro-rat fundraising campaigns. I adopted mine from the RSPCA and would be happy to feature them but I'd rather the proceeds go to rats in particular rather than animals in general. Any links to ratty rescues or rat fostering groups would be great.

Because people on other forums have been freaking out about the 'dead' look, this is a bit more info. They'll be in a rough triskelion alignment. I'm going to change the tilt to something more 'alive' and lift the heads a bit so they are looking up rather than down.

Coming back to DeviantArt is a bit like returning to your old school. It smells the same and there are a lot of old memories, but all your classmates have gone and even the teachers have changed. You look around for a bit and then you walk away.

Hi all, a you have the chance to appear in a short story accompanying a debut novel.

I'm in the process of penning a short story to go alongside Eithe's Way. It will be released, free, on Amazon and has the potential to be read by thousands of people.

You have the chance to be a named character in it.

All you have to do is read the book and answer one question:

What is the name of Eithe's friend at the office?

The competition is open from today and ends on August 15. Participants should send a private message to the Facebook page. A winner will be chosen at random and the author will contact them with character options.

My novel, Eithe's Way, is out on Kindle now.

That's £4.11 to you Britishers (www.amazon.co.uk/Eithes-Way-Rh…) and about $7 dollars to you Americans (www.amazon.com/Eithes-Way-Rhia…).

It tells the story of Eithe (Ee-thee), a young woman who finds herself engaged to a man she loves but fears. After going on a night out without her fiance's permission, Eithe, terrified he might punish her, leaps from the window of their flat and goes on the run.

Lost, penniless and alone in London, she runs into the mysterious Mirror Man, who has misplaced his memory and whose soul has fallen loose from his body. He makes a bargain with her: if she agrees to search for clues to his past, he will give her the money and means to leave the country and flee her vengeful fiance.

The trail will lead them through Europe, with Eithe's jilted lover and a duo of fraud investigators close behind. Eithe will be forced to to untangle secrets and lies and learn to make her own way.
